Spectrum Reasearch is a full service soils and environmental consulting firm. Spectrum was established in 1984. Currently, Spectrum is under the leadership of James C. Balogh.
James C. Balogh, Ph.D., PSS
Dr. James C. Balogh, PSS, received his B.A. degree in Natural Science from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Soil Science from the Department of Soil Science at the University of Minnesota. Since graduation from the University of Minnesota and postgraduate experience at the University of Maine – Orono, Dr. Balogh has been involved in contract research for federal, state, and private agencies. Dr. Balogh also directs the soil and environmental consulting operations for Spectrum Research, Inc. Dr. Balogh is a licensed soil scientist in Minnesota and Wisconsin and an ARCPACS Certified Professional Soil Scientist. Dr. Balogh is a licensed Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Advanced Designer, Advanced Inspector, and Service Provider. He directs inspection, evaluation, maintenance, and design of subsurface sewage treatment systems.
Dr. Balogh has been Senior Soil and Environmental Scientist and CEO of Spectrum Research, Inc. since 1987. He has been active in (1) developing and evaluating strategies to mitigate nonpoint source pollution; (2) conducting site evaluations for recycling of organic and municipal wastes; (3) soil and site delineation projects; (4) evaluating the benefits and hazards associated with managing agricultural, turfgrass, forest, and urban soils; (5) inspecting, designing and conduction soil and site evaluations for onsite sewage treatment systems; (6) consulting and conducting research on best management practices for turfgrass systems; (7) assessing and remediating soils contaminated with organic and inorganic constituents; and (8) conducting literature search and data reviews for environmental quality projects.
Dr. Balogh has published numerous technical reports and scientific papers on soils, sediment, water quality, and the environment. He is an active member in the Minnesota Association of Professional Soil Scientists, Soil Science Society of America, American Society of Agronomy, American Chemical Society, United States Golf Association, and National On-site Wastewater Recycling Association
